Once again the MCAA gave us an outstanding event at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas. Although this was the second year in a row at Red Rock, it was as fresh as ever. Attendance was strong as the MCAA presented a full slate of seminars for all to learn from. The members acknowledged the accomplishments of president Mike Gualtieri whose term of office expired. Mike served a distinguished two years. Now the leadership goes to Chris Mackrell. Chris has been active in many of the MCAAs, committees and will surely do a creditable job. This year’s convention featured several commendable events, one of which was thenaming of Bill Goodman as the recipient of the MCAA’s Hall of Fame award. The award, presented by Gill Carpel, was warmly received by Bill who marks this year as his 62nd year in the courier business. Following
Gil was a seminar by Rick McClelland of Dynamex, who took time away from his talk to give a special tribute to Bill Goodman. You had to be there to see the preparation that went into his tribute. Las Vegas is a special place to hold a convention and the Red Rock Resort was the perfect place to hold it. There was a bowling party one evening, followed by a pool party the next night. There is of course, the casino and several top-notch restaurants. Next year it’s back to Red Rock and if you haven’t been there yet, it’s time to go.
